Subject: strange Mouse problem

Khai ( ) posted Wed, 15 March 2006 at 8:07 AM · edited Thu, 19 February 2026 at 3:46 AM

anyone else have this problem: Load DS Load Figure (any - same behaviour noted) Pin figure with Powerpose Pull body part Right - Part moves Right. Pull body part Left - Part moves Right. Pull Up - Part moves Right. Pull Down - Part moves Right. bascially it does not matter what way I move the mouse.. the part always moves to the right of the desktop.... Ds version is the latest (downloaded last night, same with powerpose...).. every other bit of software I use is working fine.. the mouse moves normally over the desktop and normally in Poser...

Is that and part pinned, any other part dragged? What happens if you hit shift to bring up the translate gizmo and use the arrows on that?

tried that :( eg on a human, I've pinned the Hip and each buttock, then taking any part of the leg below there to move.. and whoosh.. off to the right.. tried the translate gizmo... made it go to the right faster...

I can't reproduce that with Aiko LE here. Have you had the tool working with a previous version OK? Are you using just the basic mouse driver in Windows (or Mac) or do you have something that needs its own driver? Does it matter which camera/view you look through (I tried several)? What if you don't actually lock anything (in which case the hip is treated as locked)?

tried all the views (same result) changed the batteries in my mouse (no effect) disconnected my Tablet (no effect) reconnected my tablet and updated drivers (no effect) tried using the Tablet instead of the Mouse .. and it's off to the right.... using M$ Intellipoint here.. latest version (can't use the basic mouse driver lol - wireless optical mouse)... everything else is working fine... tried the figures unlocked and you guessed it.. off to the right... I have found there is SOME movement in other Axis. but very very little.. eg I can pull with the slightest touch, the foot all the way to the right.. but it takes 5+ minutes of continously pawing the mouse to move the foot even the slightest bit to the left... kinda like to the right is 500MPH, but everyother direction is 2cm's per hour...

Well, I'm stumped: the obvious suspects are the Intellipoint software (unlikely considering how many people must use it), a bad install (always possible - have you tried running the installers again? they should remove the "old" versions as part of the install, and you shouldn't suffer any content loss) or a fault in the version on the servers. Are you working in the same scene all the time, or have you tried a new scene or a close and restart for D|S?

I'll try a reinstall.. I've tried closing it / new scene.. and rebooting .. no effect...

The other thought.... have you tried using a standard "wired" mouse? Lou.

I don't want to have to jump through hoops to use this software ... but I'm using an intuis graphics tablet for my mouse ... and DS4.6 is dragging and not responding to the mouse and barely responding to keyboard shortcuts.  I'm trying to learn the program and all I'm doing is getting frustrated.  I've made sure the Wacom settings include DAZ ... and well.  It's sluggish and some tabs just won't open and periodically I can't even access the menu bar.  Suggestions? I don't want to switch between mice just for this program.

If your system's response is slow I would ask how much you have in the window: I find that if I have lots of figures, models et. in a file and don't save often things get really buggy - if it's not the mouses fault  (I dumped my intellipoint for a Logitec, but it always worked okay for me)you may just be hitting the ceiling.

Just remember that DAZ and Poser use a truly stupendously huge database of stuff to generate the image you see: fiddle about for a while without saving and it may hang or sometimes even crash, so save often and chop tasks down smaller e.g. i always pose figures alone in a small room before combining them in a big scene.

I started out using DAZ on a Core Duo i3 with 2GB and it worked but it was slow. As I said above, DAZ and Poser work best with a lot of computing power.

Also, maybe defrag your runtime if things get funky.

Maybe this will help, hope so. :)
