THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT - I'm under voluntary evacuation

MoonGoat ( ) posted Thu, 29 September 2005 at 10:29 AM · edited Fri, 27 February 2026 at 12:17 PM

The wildfires are raging right near my high school, everything near there is closed and people are urged to evacuate. My relatives, girlfriend, other friends, have already gotten out of there. My area is under voluntary evacution, the fire will only affect me if it jumps the 101 freeway. If it does, then it'll basically be in my backyard and my backyard is 2.3 acres of brush-covered Santa Monica mountains. I'm considering getting out of here, the sun is an evil red, the smoke is pretty intense. Just thought I'd let you guys know, you're all family to me. MoonGoat (Getting out the marshmallows)

I hope you stay safe. Let us know as soon as you can how you're doing out there. Are you going to take any pictures of the evil red sun? Take care, Ang

Thanks guys. I'll try to get a picture next time the sun is low. Right now, it's just this caustic orange thing. Theres so much smoke in the sky right now, it looks like its almost nightfall. And the raining burning ash is really annoying. Virtually everyone I know has been mandatory-evac'd. I think I'm going to stick it out here. As you can tell, I dislike fires. I'll try to get some homework or Brycing done, though I still have this horrible ominous premonitions of doom. I can't get to girlfriend's house, roads are either jammed or blocked off. :( MoonGoat (Starting to get hot in here)

This is taken right out my bedroom window. It's 11 AM and the sky actually looks like that.

marcfx ( ) posted Thu, 29 September 2005 at 1:03 PM

Is that a UFO to the left of your window??........there using the smoke to invade!!!

MoonGoat ( ) posted Thu, 29 September 2005 at 1:14 PM

Hehe I think that's merely the reflection the rest of my house. But I like the smokey invasion tactic theory. Well I'm going to start packing now. Just got the recomended evacuation for my area. See you later, Brycers!

Be careful, MG!

MoonGoat ( ) posted Thu, 29 September 2005 at 5:51 PM

Winds reversed, fire is now 25% contained. Evacuation warnings for my area dropped down a level. I should only have to be worried if the fire jumps the 101 or the 23 freeway. But otherwise, I'll ride it out here.

Sounds like an excuse for you to get some referance shots of flames and stuff. Good luck out there....!

Still, not as bad as 2 years ago when just about all of Southern California was burning. This is from the smoke from the fires in San Diego... and no, that isn't a tinted window, nor is this the worst it got. Take care and stay safe moongoat! and wear a hospital mask when you go outside, that stuff can wreak havoc on your lungs and sinuses!

Well... be safe and don't take any dumb chances.... if they evacuate you.... go. Will keep you in my prayers.
