Khai ( ) posted Thu, 16 September 2004 at 8:17 PM · edited Sat, 11 April 2026 at 5:54 AM

what is the standing on contests held in forums such as the monthly challenges? do they now need permission to run with contest pages set aside for them?

hum...I'm gonna just remove all those too :) NOT! (just a joke don't shot me, please) I have learned a really big lesson on NOT using the delete option. We've always allowed contests within forums, but understand we've got a lot of communications issues to work on. And, we're actively working on ideas for that, but our first objective right now is to try to correct the mess I made. We'll make proper notification (with plenty of time) for any possible changes there, but we aren't planning or discussing changing any forum challenges. Please try to be patient while we work to resolve.

I think we need to give JenyK a break. She said she was sorry, leave it at that. There will be plenty of other contests to participate in...

Jeny...you know I was one of those who strongly attacked what you did and there were reasons for it that were never mean't to be personal.Recently we found a Russian site where stolen art from rosity was being posted...several members here addressed the matter with anger or pointed to the problem but took no action save to complain.I took the bull by the horns and did a little research...Cooler and others pointed out that Russia actually has stronger laws about stolen art that are as stringent or moreso than here in the U.S.~what they didn't point out is that if you are abusive or threatening they will ignore you and the courts there will side with them. There its a matter of being respectful and courteous which I was with the admin on that site for two days addressing works I knew had been stolen and the artist we knew had been doing this.I am pleased to say that he went out of his way to remove the images and banned the member who submitted them. However, people here are still complaining but not contacting the site admin with links to the original works...and if its not their work, they're either not reporting it to the artist or the artist doesn't care~but only they have a legal right to ask that it be removed. In babene's case a glass of wine was required...in this case it was a hammer because you were issuing warnings and deleting images right & left~further you were insisting these contests were violating TOS that at best were a matter of interpretation and that the other admin ignored when they encouraged and defended these gallery contests. The hammer had to be used because at the time, you were apologising for the way you implemented your actions...but not the fact that your actions shouldn't have been taken. I now see that images and comments are being restored, but what about for those members so insulted by your actions that they deleted their entire gallerys or the members who posted these contests who recieved warnings in notifications from you scolding them for their actions. Now that the damage has been done its time for damage control and not a whitewash hoping this goes away.First step is an open apology at length stating why you were unaware of these gallery contests (yes its important)which were so widely spoken of in the forums and the countless images in the gallerys.Next is an apology to the members whose images were deleted and the people who recieved warnings for what were authorised contests that the other admin allowed to take place in the gallerys...accept accountability and explain in your own words what happened.Others have their own apologies to make as these gallery contests on rosity shouldn't have been allowed in the first place if there was any possibility that they could violate the TOS. Basically, most people are very understanding when given such courtesys and I feel thats why so many were so angry about this...no courtesy was shown to anyone which in turn means no courtesy should be shown to you unless you explain what happened and apologise to those your actions insulted. As for the rest, you know who all got their images deleted and who held the contest...maybe a $5.00 gc might smooth things over for most since the images are going back up~and a $5.00 gc for each of them will certainly make people think twice before acting impulsively in the future. Sorry this had to happen and sorry if anything I've said hurt your feelings Jeny...its not my intent, just I felt I had to hit this matter hard to make people pay attention and hopefully get some damage control underway~think its too late now though~maybe:(

If the end goal of learning is genius...why are most geniuses failures at learning?
