Subject: Has anyone ever seen a model of a Triffid?

Hi Have been re-reading my John Wyndham books. Currently reading Day of The Triffids, which brings about this post. Has anyone ever seen a 3D model of a triffid? Best would be one based on the old BBC mini-series based on the book. BTW For those who haven't read the book a triffid is a tripedal walking "intelligent" plant, with a ten foot long deadly poisonous sting/whip out of the top of it's flower/funnel.

Closest I can think of is Anton's The Plant, which is at Fantasy3D. If you search for easypose in the freestuff here, there's an update for it; and maybe a few other things that might be helpful. I don't know how close that would be, can't remember what I did yesterday most of the time... :-?

If you do a search in Google for triffid images, you might find something there. Either a model or images that might help you model your own.

Thanks for the replies. I had a go at modelling one several years ago pre-poser. Could try again. I've looked on the net, there are some interesting web sites about Triffids. And I do have the BBC series on tape(Beta would you believe).

There are no Poser-ready triffid models per se ... as EnglishBob suggested, Anton's "Plant" came to mind when I saw this thread. Allegedly Rubbermatt at 3D Arena keeps the Triffids alive in the back room of the Downtown Bar forum at that site. He periodically feeds uppity forum members from the various Poser sites to them.

hmm... the plant while good ain't the answer.. Id' be interested in this as well basically we're looking for a 8ft-10ft tall orchid with 3 main "roots" it can walk on, 2 short 'stems' that it can beat against it's trunk to communicate and a 10ft long 'stinger' that whips out of the bell of the flower... btw, if you see anything resembling that outside while sober, please tell me so I can run like hell in the other direction. thank you.

You could pop in to Sixus1 and drop a few hints. This seems to be their sort of thing. :)

I was thinking about Sixus as well. It would be in their line. And I might dig out the modelling app over the coming weekend and give it another go.
