Subject: How do you find your serial number?

JABevan ( ) posted Fri, 15 February 2002 at 9:45 AM · edited Mon, 16 March 2026 at 7:02 PM

I've just installed my version of Poser on my wife's iBook(so I can take it with me... when she lets me play with it), but can't find my serial number to start working with it. Is there any way to find my serial number from within Poser? Thanks, JABevan Joshua Bevan

yed, there's a way. Start poser and then you'll get the a couple of screens, then you have to look at the upper left corner and there is a number that's your Poser serial number. It's on the secund screen right under the head Poser 4 there you'll find your serial number. Cheers, VCD

I have to check my spelling more often. Sorry, VCD

Weird, looks like the only difference in the serial number and the number you get under "About Poser" is the "X" in front of it... Thanks!... back to work/play... ;)

I wish they'd put the serial number inside the CD folder, like Adobe does. I put a yellow sticky inside my CD folder so I would find it easily. It might actually be better to type it out on a mailing label and stick it inside the CD folder. Or even better yet, also on the CD itself. I'm always afraid of losing it. I think I also stuck a copy of it inside the Manual cover. It would be a nightmare if I had to reinstall it for some reason and couldn't find the serial number. I would go into severe withdrawals, that's for sure. ;) Melanie

??? my CD has a sticker on it with the serial #. is it because I bought the 3 program collection that metacreations put out? (bryce, poser, canoma)

Yeah, I did that too, stick the sticker to the wallet, it's got both my poser and "black & white" CD's in it at the mo' goes with me everywhere :) Which reminds me, I'll have to get back to hacking a mac, I've been without for far too long :) later jb

I went ahead and wrote my Poser and ProPack serial numbers on the CD's in permanent marker... as a back-up, I also keep them on a text file in my Linux box as well (The text file also contains my Q3A CD-Key, my Half-life CD-Key, etc etc...) That way, if I have to re-install on the laptop, I go to the other machine, and there they are. My Windows-based laptop contains a similar file, listing what little licensing info needed for certain Linux services on the Linux box (up2date, WineX reg., Linux Q3A CD-Key, etc.) Since I know that both hard drives won't be trashed at the same time, I know I can always access the info from on, on the other :) /P

Ah ha! I finally found my Poser 4 Manual, stuck under a huge pile of other computer manuals. It has the sticker stuck inside the front cover. I should have put it into the CD folder instead. Duh! Must have been another blonde moment. Melanie

If you're registered, Curious Labs will send you your # if you completely space it-- which I did, along with the CDs. All I could find was the manual. It cost $25 for replacement CDs but eminently worth it.
