I've never been a big fan of Robbie the Robot. For one thing I just think of evilness when I see him.
Both Robots were created by the same guy.

Been meaning to turn my attention to these two lads for some time. There aren't any accurate versions of either for Poser. Yet. :D

This "WayBack link is still valid as I just tested it.

Not all the download links are viable but the B-9 model is.
This mesh used to pop up everywhere, but not so much anymore. As a B-9 fanatic, I can point out some minor "flaws" (the 'bubble" is a tad "flat" and it has almost twice the number of neon tubes the actual costume contained), but it's still one of the best versions available, especially when you consider it's free. XCalPro sells a Poser rigged version that's admittedly a tad more accurate, but if you want free, this is the one to grab.
TonyMouse asked about one about 4 years ago in the "free stuff" sub-forum, so various models were discussed. Keep in mind one I promoted is no longer available as the site where it was available, Sci-Fi Meshes, was repeatedly hacked, so the download section was purged. Here's that thread.

As noted above. Robert Kinoshita engineered Robby for Forbidden Planet. Years later, Irwin Allen contacted him to build something in the vein of Robby, but different enough so he wouldn't have to pay MGM "likeness" rights. He figured it would be cheaper to have an "original" robot built rather than "renting" Robby from MGM over the course of the series. That's why they certain design parallels. Robby did appear in LiS twice and when the two stand side by side, you'll realize no given component is truly "interchangeable". B-9 was not simply a "redress" of Robby.
Sincerely,
Bill

As an aside, I've always wondered what the Daleks would have looked like if Rob Kinoshita had designed them. I believe - with nothing to support this, admittedly - the neck section was influenced by Mr Kinoshita's design, particularly since one of the pre build concept sketches showed a 5 ring neck section and an overall more cylindrical shape. The very first iteration had a "head" section similar to B9's, but solid as opposed to glass/perspex.
No, I don't have an obsession. Oh no siree.

It's a world of truck drivers.

EClark1894, were you able to download and import James Murphy's mesh?
Or, was it not to your liking?
Sincerely,
Bill
Thanks for the links, Bill. I downloaded both meshes, although I haven't un packed them yet. I even went after the Jupiter 2 mesh, my favorite space craft of all time, but ... well, I don't know what happened. Couldn't get it.
Well, I did note in my initial post that several of those download links are "dead". It's just pure chance the B-9 and Robby links are still working. Anyway, good to read you got them.
Still, if Sam Therapy is tempted to model and share some Poser rigged versions, you won't read any complaints from me!
Sincerely,
Bill

And if one of those is the Jupiter 2 you'll hear a shout of joy from me.

Didn't see them.
Beautiful model by RC Haselius, I believe. Note the oddly "small" upper deck hatch and the deeply recessed main viewport. While Haselius did model, render and even animate a stunningly detailed and screen accurate Jupiter 2, this was a personal interpretation, his solution to fit everything depicted more or less reasonably within the hull.
One can see his animations for both his "accurate" J2, his modified version, and a few other concepts upon his YouTube channel...

As for SciFi Meshes.com,regrettably, the site was MAJORLY hacked a few years ago. It was so "corrupted" the site owners had to purge the offered downloads and that feature was never restored. Even now, if one goes to the site, one is smothered with unwanted pop-ups.
Sincerely,
Bill

Has anyone by any chance seen a FREE 3D version of the B-9 robot from Lost in Space anywhere? Prop or moving parts okay.
