Hey gang...
I'm not sure if this is the right place... but.
I'm looking for someone to create several custom Poser figures. These are not going to be super high detail. The facial features don't need to be great but the clothes & hair need to look indicative of a real person. I'd prefer they were based on v4 & m4 so that I can the walk designer.
Anyone know of any services that create custom poser fig's? Please email - posfigs@edtoshred.com
Thanks,
ED
Hi. I do creation using a completely different tool set for a different type of 3D art - landscapes. However, I have noticed something about the 3D Male models featured here that I thought I'd point out. I'm also a photographer and what I notice about male models - especially athletes is a stronger, larger lower leg/ankle physiology than I see on many of the 3D male models showcased here. Also, men - especially athletic men tend to have a wider & more powerful foot. You CANNOT use the same skeletal template for males & females. And trying to - looks ridiculous. Even teenage boys just hitting puberty usually have much visibly stronger ankle/foot development than women of the same weight. Whoever is building these 3D models needs to pay close attention to that. Doing it incorrectly makes it look like the designer was lazy or inattentive.

Good idea! But in stead focussing on different apps, i think people should focus more on shapes of their characters. For realism or semi realism( final fantasy) shapes and secondary and tertiary shapes are very important. Also rendering in different lights, different hair and also eyebrows can totally make or ruin a character. If you model from a photo. Model what you see and not what you want to see. I know this is easier said than done but most people dont look and study.I also notice people are not paying attention to ears, the ears can really change someones appearance. Also the nose very important part of faceI would like to rekindle this thread to bring new life to these forums and threads to aide in character creation. this could be a help to us all, I would think.
Ths is La Femme, she is modeled after a scan of a young hispanic woman. What i do is, i render every step so i can compare later and also see progress. Then i add brows and a dummy hair prop to get an idea and if i am going in the right direction. You can see my progress here:

Not a bad looking character, I see you're in the realism court. There's some good asymmetry there. La Femme could use more of that. She's good for toon characters for sure, a good mesh. I have a hard time with her jaw line, and a few other things. Also, looks like you're good with hair cards. Quite a demand for that in the Poserverse.
Anyway, well done.

I can do toons, no problem. The morph is exaclty as the scan it came from. I prefer texturimg/shading and morphing. I dread modelling. But in my job i have to do both. Not a bad looking character, I see you're in the realism court. There's some good asymmetry there. La Femme could use more of that. She's good for toon characters for sure, a good mesh. I have a hard time with her jaw line, and a few other things. Also, looks like you're good with hair cards. La femme has a strong jaw, i personally struggle with her eyelashes a lot. They are old fashioned. But we have to like what we have.
Regarding hair, i prefer fibermesh, you can use it with the hair room too. This hair prop is not usable but i always create a very fast one to see how it looks on the model. Hair can change the shape of one's face.
No matter cartoon or semi realism. There are some rules that apply universally.
