What version of Carrara are you using? Your listed software looks to be a couple of versions back so I don't know if that is also true with Carrara.
The usual method is to actually do everything in Carrara and bypass the import process. Imports seem to be inconsistent with Carrara and other DAZ scene building products. Also, since you can do everything in the program, there really isn't a need to work in another and then import.
im using the beta version of carrara 8.5 and daz studio pro, i bought the carrara aniblock importer this morning. I still cant figure out though how you get the clothing to conform/stick to a figure in carrara. I presume I'm meant to use the poser and daz items that carrara picks up when it scans for runtime folders? PS I wouldnt call poserpro 2012 a couple of versions back lol. It might start a war in some third world nation :tt2:

I don't use the aniblocks tool so I'm useless there. I suspect there is an issue with the heirarchy of the clothes and the figure once inside Carrara – but it's only a guess. This would be seen in the scene/object browser. Once in Carrara, If the rig doesn't look like it does in DSP, in won't work in Carrara.
Ha, I saw your references ot P8 and P5 when talking about older software. Yes, those are bad days for sure! At least by comparison to 2012.
okey doke, i think ive about figured part of the clothing fitting issue. But I am now experiencing another issue. When I fit the clothing to the figures they import without any of the mat textures unless i export the scene from poser or daz with the clothing prefitted?. Everything from the carrara runtimes that isnt a carrara preset imports with a plain untextured white finish. There are no cloth shaders in my version of carrara so im pretty stumped.

Carrara can read directly from all runtimes. So, if the runtime is working in Poser/DAZ, then it will also work in Carrara. However, the import/export thing is obviously not playing nice. (btw, this isn't all that uncommon in other CG software either - the plugins alwas seem to have 'opportunities' to fail)
To ask a silly question, have you tried simply building the scene in Carrara and bypassing the use of multiple programs. Carrara's claim-to-fame is that you can do everything in it, precluding the need for plugins.
Mark
yes mark i have, figures and props load with textures, albeit low quality on a lot of props, but clothing figures seem to be unique in loading pure white, even the DAZ clothing items. I do notice though that when i open the runtime libraries that carrara reads there are no material or light folders.

could someone please expalin to me in simple terms lol, how to use clothing in carrara, ive being running some simple animations added into scenes i have exported from daz, then added the aniblock using the import plugin, the animation is looking smooth but i find the clothing can remain static and by say frame 20 it has done the equivalent of remaining in place at frame 1 and then stretching certain parts of itself along the path the figure is moving on. thanks guys
