So far, this thing has been crazy! There are a lot of pipes! I'm adding little details now and doing a lot tweaking. Several of the textures need to be changed and some of the proportions of a few things need to dialed. I'm into the macro level details (railings, handles, ladders, edges). None of that was really in the original but a more detailed render kind demands it.
I would guess I have about 40 hours in on it so far. Another 10 and it should be good to go.

I've already started working on Starbase 11 as seen in the court martial episode. Trying to reproduce images that are established is certainly a learning experience! The image for delta vega had over 8000 individual pieces (not counting all the little rocks in teh sand).
It's been a great learning experience and I'm enjoying working on the next scene already. Here's how far I've gotten just in three hours work already.

I'm getting ready to o on a trip and I won't be able to work on this anymore for a week or so. However, I've been beating on this for three weeks now and it's time I posted something on it.I'm thinking this would be a reasonable C3DE option? We'll see.
If you google Star Trek Lithium Cracking Station, you can find the original matte painting that was done for the original series. This particular image has been burned into my memory since I was a kid and I've always had a huge fascination with it (just wanted to be there and go explore the station!).
Anyway, it's coming along and I'm going to give up on it soon as it's driving me crazy. This will be an image I print and hang on my wall.
100% all Carrara (modeling, texturing, etc.).
