Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 Apr 18 10:36 pm)
Have you tried dragging items from finder into the Poser preview window? It's supposed to do that.
The library is not slow at all on my MacBook Pro and I don't have the fancy version you have. Perhaps you need to update Flash?
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
Hmm, yes, I have the latest Flash installed (10.2.153.1). I would have thought it was the other way around: that the program was tested with an old Flash version but is incompatible with the latest version.
Could it be the size? How big is your library? My runtime folder is 9,39 GB, with lots of stuff from older Poser versions. However, it seems a bit silly that a simple file browser should choke on that. Finder can handle millions of files and hundreds of gigs without slowing down.
Intel mac here and I will report my main or largest runtime size which is a lot bigger then that when I get home in about two hours. But the PP2010 lib is snappy and fast after it first inits on launch.
1.) is you whole computer slow or just the library?
2.) Open the activity monitor found in the apps utility folder and check to see if anything is grabbing cpu cycles besides poser and or the lib.
3.) Check the console log when digging around in the lib to see if it is throwing off errors or warnings.

FYI the docs say Chapter 1 page 8 for Macs (page 7 for Win) (these are sys requirements)
Adobe® Flash® Player 9 (32-bit embedded library)
Adobe® AIR® (external library)
then on page 33
Launch Behavior: Controls how the library launches on 32- and 64-bit systems.
Embedded (32-bit systems only): By default, the library is embedded and works internally with Poser Pro. You can dock and float the Library Palette the same as other palettes in the interface.
External (32-bit systems only): Check this option if you want to run the library as an external application. You will not be able to dock and undock the library palette, but will be able to position it on a second monitor if desired.
Foreground Poser on item load (32- and 64-bit systems): Check this option to bring Poser to the foreground after a library item is loaded. With the option unchecked, focus remains in the library until you manually switch to the Poser application to continue with your scene.
Mine is set to external with set forground poser on item load checked. I run my library on a second monitor
FYI my largest runtime is 27 gigs

The built-in (Flash based) Poser Pro 2010 library browser is simply too slow to be useful. Responding to mouse clicks takes up to 20 seconds. Scrolling down to the bottom of a folder list takes more than a minute. And my computer is usually not particularly slow (Mac Pro with 2 x 2 GHz Dual-Core Xeon CPUs and 6 GB of RAM, enough to run Cinema 4D, Final Cut and Aperture well).
If it was only possible to browse the runtime folders in Finder, clicking on the .cr2 files and have them open in Poser, but alas, no.
Apparently there are some Windows replacement library browsers. Are there none for OS X? Or at least an open source one that I could modify myself to work on OS X?
