In a meet-and-greet type thing?

I've actually always wanted to have a picnic or something where some of us could get together, have some fun, get to know who each other are, and just generally have a good time together.  But, since this is Michigan, and we're getting close to the "blink and it's raining" season (er...Fall), indoors might be good.  So, I'm open to suggestion :)  I know places like The Bean in Plymouth are cool with Bunches of People conglomerating  in their shop (and they have pretty decent tea, I'm not gonna lie), but if anyone would like to throw something out there, I'm game :)

But, I would definitely like to see this happen :)  I got the idea last year when I (again) couldn't make it to Siggraph, lol, and I figured now would be as good a time as any to try to make it happen!

Where in the UK do you live?  Next year I'm hoping to get over there to visit Paul, Claire, Little Sam and their new one that is currently baking!

Sounds like a great idea Jen; I'm in Clinton Township!
It would be awesome to hang out with some people who actually understand what I do for a living :)

Count me in!  JenX, you're in Redford too???

I'm right off Inkster south of Grand River.

jt411 ( ) posted Tue, 17 August 2010 at 7:48 PM

I'm officially volunteering my basement. We built a fancy bar and have yet to use it :)
I'm about 45 minutes from Redford, so it may be kind of a hike.

If you're comfortable with that, that's cool.  I went with the Bean because I <3 it :P  I was going to suggest that or The WAB, lol.

Wow, small world.  You ever go to the Chinese Dive on Six and beech?  Happy Gardens, I think?  The Mrs. Loves it.

JenX ( ) posted Tue, 17 August 2010 at 8:05 PM

I've never been....or noticed.  LOL!  I'm almost always at the Speedway right there.  I'm gonna have to try it out sometime...I've been looking for good chinese for a while.  We tried going to a buffet out in Novi, and it was about to close, so we somehow ended at the Cherry Blossom for sushi.  That's way more common than I think is normal, now that I think about it :P
We do, however, visit the Grill a lot.  They have amazing sundaes.

Warren, here.  But just about all my family is on the West Side.  Grew up in Detroit, when it was still o.k.,  Plymouth Road and St. Mary's.  Looong time ago.  lol

Ok, FINALLY I have a second to breathe, LOL.

I would love to really make this happen :)  So, if you guys know of anyone else that might live in the area, or members in other communities that are our neighbors, point them to this thread ;)  The more, the merrier!!

OH OH, and totally unrelated to our get together, who's all going to FanFaire this year?  It looks like it's going to be a blast!  :)  We had planned on going to Wizard Con in Chicago this past weekend, but van troubles made our decision for us, lol, and it was no :P  But, I still dressed little Galen up in his outfit I made for him, lol.

I'm in - Don't know of anyone else though.  Doesn't Jack Kammerer (or whatever the hell his name is/was) live in the area?  (<--Just Kidding)

Jeni, little outside this thread.  However, what a big cutie you have.  Wasn't it just a couple of weeks ago that you had him?

Back to thread

Sort of wished that I still lived in Michigan (except for the property taxes).  --would like to meet some of you and as jt411 stated,  down here I get blank stares when I mention Poser, Carrara, Hexagon,  Vue and **ZBRUSH. ** Jan

I'm still up for it and the offer to use my homestead still stands. I know there's more members in the area; I'll put a shout out in the galleries today.

Awesome!  We'll see how many people are interested, and then we'll work on a more concrete date ;)

I'm up in Holly, Michigan, north of Clarkston. Redford is quite a hike, but it's a swell idea!
