Subject: Is there a power pose tool for Carrara?

Hi there folks!

I've been using DAZ Studio for some time and just recently started using Carrara. One thing I realy miss is the power pose tool in DAZ Studio. Carrara seem to have the same posing method as Poser where you're supposed to drag the body parts where you want them.

It's a matter of taste I guess, but I personally have more control of the character's pose in the power pose tool. I can twist and bend the tip of the fingers without the rest of the body following. I think that's what's bothering me, if I drag the character's hand up - the arm and eventually the shoulder will follow as if she was a marionette. I guess that's the point but it kind of wreck my poses when I've been working with the upper body for an hour, and then I drag the hand making her raise her shoulder.

Is there a power pose tool for Carrara? I can't seem to find any in the manual anyway.

My first bright idea here was to load Victoria in DAZ Studio and power pose her into what I want, then import the DAZ Studio scene into Carrara. But alas, the import function works a bit so so. The morphs get a bit screwed up.

I could make some screen shots I guess but I'll try to make it simple instead. I want a vampire. So I posed Victoria with her arms raised, morphed her face expression to maximum "Angry". Then I maxed the "Mouth Open" morph as well. A growling vampire...
I just want the pose so I didn't add any materials or texture in DAZ Studio, so I just saved a clean scene with only Victoria all nude and bald.

When I import the scene into Carrara, she does have the physical pose but her the expression morphs got all screwed up. The lips are open but her teeth are clinched. And they stay that way even if I try to fool around with the expression morphs within Carrara. The lips move but her teeth stay clinched. Looks like she have giant gums when I open her mouth all the way.

The morphs of course work perfectly if I load a fresh Victoria into Carrara, so this phenomena has something to do whit importing DAZ Studio scenes. But then again, I have to pose the fresh Victoria in Carrara.

So this became two questions:
A) Is there a power pose tool for Carrara?
B) Is there otherwise a working way to get a DAZ Studio pose into Carrara?

A) No, the IK system in Carrara works in a different way, most like professional 3D program.
B) YES, theres a script that save the PZ2 file from Daz Studio that you can open in Carrara easy

Ah...ok, no power posing in Carrara then.

But how do I save the pose in PZ2? When I save a pose from DS it ends up in it's native DSB file...

You will need to search for a plugin for DazStudio at Daz sites that create PZ2 files.
