Subject: Fixing a broken obj and textures

So I was planning to do a render using V2, and digging around all the V1/V2 stuff I have, I found a dress that has a nice texture set.  I planned on changing it to a dynamic cloth, but the processing stalled.  Since that typically indicates a problem with the mesh, I took a close look and indeed, there's a small tear.  No problem, take it into a modeler and move the offending point to where it's obviously supposed to be, and weld it to the point there.

The obj goes into the cloth room and no problems there.  Works perfectly fine.

But I seem to have lost the texture information.  The pz2's that load the texture don't work.

Any suggestions (other than painfully remapping it)?

The obj file defines what materials the obj contains. Poser can only act on materials specified in the obj. When you fixed the obj, your modelling app probably lost or changed the name of the material(s). In the obj file the material names are defined in 'usemtl' lines.

If the item only uses one material, open the obj file in a text editor and Search for the string "usemtl" change the name as appropriate to the material used in the  cr2, pp2, or pz2. if the item uses more than one material but the same material groupings have been preserved in the obj, you may still be able to use this method.  If the item uses more than one material, but you have lost some of the materials in the obj, then I think you will have to use UV Mapper (or your modelling app) to create the appropriate materials in the obj.

An alternative to changing the names in the obj file, is to edit the pz2 to use the names in the obj.
