Polygons are same thing as faces, lines that are closed and form a face...
Mike talked about filled polygons, but at same time not filled polygons are only lines or edges.
But dont care about this, itsonly tech talk.

An open polygon is a polyline (a line with three or more vertices on it). Like if you make a spline object but don't connect the end points; then the missing 'cap' is an open polygon.No reason to cap it if you aren't going to see it (like if it is against a wall, or sitting on a floor).

I have Carrara 6 Pro, could not find any books for it, so I bought the one shown in the image above.On page 7 the book states "A polygon is a type of geometric object that can either be opened or closed."
The book doesn't elaborate on it at this point, so can someone please show me what they mean by an open polygon?
