Subject: Can I render/save a scene with a transparent background

johnjdesigns ( ) posted Fri, 19 May 2006 at 5:35 PM · edited Thu, 16 July 2026 at 5:15 PM

Is there a way in Carrara Basic to render a scene with a transparent background. In poser 6 I can render a model with no set background and saving to PNG format only the model is saved and the background is transparent when loaded into Photoshop. Is ther a way to also accomplish this with Carrara? Thank you

Not sure about basic. In Carrara you need to us the tif, psd, tga as output for alpha. Gif works, but doubt you want that. Check the render alpha channel box.Setup your background, of course.

No need to think outside the box....

Alpha channel works with the PSD format. Thanks! I would really be excited if there was a PNG option. Thanks again, most appreciated.

Your welcome.
If I recall correctly the files are larger in png. I remember doing that with some textures and I think the png's were even larger than tif with no noticeable quality improvements. Not 100% sure I am remembering correctly tho.
