I had never taken any handheld shots at night using ISO 1600 before, so I tried it out on some foggy streetlight lit scenes. All photos taken with a Canon 350D and a Canon 16-35mm lens at f/2.8. The only post-work was using Noise ninja plug-in to smooth out the grain and Black & White Pro plug-in.

I guess you answered your own question -- You bet you can! Those are all great shots. I get a sense of desolation, isloation, and a somber mood pervading. Thanks for sharing these dramatic images.

P.s uploaded before finished.. love all three of those azy... but the top one rocks... fabalicious images...wtg !!!!!! even used iso 1600 in daylight hours for macro.. alot is made about noise but if you happen to capture noise in a shot.. can work for you if able to use some artistic flare and post work..

wtg means Way To Go..!!!!!...theyre beautiful shots azy...!!!

and when doing a exposure check ((weighted metering etc etc )).. even in daylight been amazed at the iso reading of iso1600.. but it works a treat in broad day light often l use exposure compensation..either -1/3rd or 2/3rd depends of the glare of winter sunshine.. but often monotonic conditions.. ya know how it goes in the uk..!!!!..

Attached Link: Bar Buddy

Mmmmmm, Richard, those are some super Xmas presents! I got 4 different bottles of good liquor from my father-in-law to put in my "Bar Buddy" and a new alcohol dispenser shaped like an old gasoline pump. He knows me too well as well! ;] Anyway, I sure it helps keep a steady hand when taking night shots! =]
