Hi all...I wanted to share this experience with you, and challenge you to try something similar. The sun had gone down, yet there was adequate light still in the sky, and the moon was out. I set the camera on a tripod, and moved the dials to automatic @ f5.6...As I clicked the shutter I counted off the seconds till the shutter closed. The first exposure (left frame) was @ 45 seconds. I moved down river abt 10 yards/meters and set up again (middle frame). By the time I got to the third shot, abt 10 more yards down river (right frame)it was getting dark and had to use a penlight. I lost count on the seconds for the 3rd shot. You can recognize the tree with the roots near the waters edge across the stream in each frame. I know it's winter for some of you, so dress warm and have fun! A larger image of each frame is being posted in my gallery. The film strip was scanned, resized, and posted as-is, and sharpened somewhat with the unsharp mask filter.

That is "Staying Power"...an Exposure for 45 Seconds...in Winter too, unfortunately My humble DigiCam, prematurely conks out after 15 Seconds...and I would need a wee Sleep before I moved down River to do it all again...and I am not surprised You lost count after that! Respect!!! First Class Images...sure someone will take up the Challenge, and no need for Me to Dress warm ...it is Floral Frock Weather....sigh

The postwork in the larger files was straight forward...in Paint Shop Pro (v.X=10)After scanning and saving to RGB file, I first used the clone tool to bust the dust, then I used the clarify button a couple times, which punches up the contrast, then clicked the unsharp mask button a few times, added the text last before saving to jpg. I went back and did the same to the filmstrip before posting for comparison side by side. The density of each neg was not changed.

Laughing with Brian...I plan on going back to this spot next weekend (if it's a clear night)with my Digi cam and attempt to re-enact the scenario with the cam set on "Program" mode...however a full moon will not occur again until Dec. 15th. I wonder if a half moon would produce enough light on a clear night?

It's a very original way to capture this creek with special light with lots of blue in it (when the sun has set), which causes the unusual effect as well as a way to use a long exposure time (else you would need to block most of the light with grey-filters when the sun shines). The effect is very original!
