Got the whole "Crease Edges" thing down, Thanks.

Now, when Im modeling in hex, is there going to be a way for me to "see" the craziness in polygon action so that when i get to C4, is wont be a shock. Or will C5 have better import support? Or do I need to learn how to model better :)

Regards,
E

Model better. ;) Carrara seeks to create the smallest file size possible. Triangles take less memory that quads because there is one less point per facet. To prevent that, carefully use the Hex tesselate tools where you will be adding detail so you can work with quads you set up. Then, prior to export for .obj or .car, collapse all dynamic geometry in Hex. (you don't have to save your .hxn file this way, you can undo the collapse immediatly after you do the export) You'll still have to do the crease action but at least ther'll be no polygon surprises. While I agree modeling better is always good. Having to import or export anything means you have to learn the ism's of the programs and they all do something different. Import and export can be a pain. I feel sure that improvements in hex and carrara working quickly together will get better.

No need to think outside the box....
