anyone have BOTH proggies and can give me a fair comparison ?:) Not too happy with the skies and lack of particles, character creation/animation inside Vue Infinite.

I wouldn't try to compare Carrara with Vue. Both have different qualities. Carrara is good for modeling Vue is good for landscaping

Carrara have physics, modifers, behaviors Vue do not have those but have wind dynamics for plants Like I said both have different qualities. You will never find a 'All-in-one' 3d proggy. I have learned to use different apps to get most of benefits for my projects.

Carrara is a multi purpose applications. Vue is mostly gear towards landscapes environment design. Really can't compare both of them.

I use C4pro on most of my projects. I use V5i on some of them - especially the ones requiring vast outdoor scenes. C4pro is content creator much more than V5i and C4p is also much more flexible fitting just about any project. For exclusive outdoor scenery/environments, V5i still has an edge over Carrara, although.

Mark and others who have used both, Have you ever had issues combining scenes from both apps? Whether rendered seperately and integrated later (matting, or editing animated shots), or importing one scene into the other? Are the renderers similar enough in quality to combine shots from both in a single animated film? Any success with this? thanks, holly

They work very well together. Exporting V5i trees to C4p creates MONSTER-HUGE objects, though. I decide what to do on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes it makes more sense to do it all in C4 with C4 trees and terrains, sometimes importing a V5 tree or two into C4 is a good way to go, and sometimes doing the whole outside scene in V5 is the way to go. Neither program is a "silver bullet" for every scene or animation need. If you have multiple machines, both programs have network rendering capabilities - that saves hours!

I have just another opinion about landscaping with carrara or vue.
For me, carrara is the most better choice. Extrem high quality terrains, which reach to terragen, no, they may be a bit better then terragen, and so far better than the Vue concept.
Proof it, by visiting my galerie here and compare it with typical Vue landscapes. Of course, I do not use much vegetation, this is a plus for vue, but the terrains and the possibility to use terrain tools like Worldmachine, Terraformer, Leveller, without loosing the high resolution of this tools, is an aboslute clear advantage to carrara.

I am really wondering, about the less landscapes here in the carrara gallery, but I am sure, this will change
