Subject: Some Poser figures don't import to C3, any ideas?

Tunesy ( ) posted Sat, 27 November 2004 at 11:21 AM ยท edited Thu, 09 July 2026 at 11:29 AM

Hi. I like the Poser/C3 combo, but I have a few figures that are never visible when I import them, most notably Eternal Judy by 3Dream. Her hair and clothes are visible, but not her. She shows up in the assembly room listings though. The others are kinda oddball things that don't concern me much, but I'd really like to get EJ to play nice with C3. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

...forgot to say the only groups that show up are "hair" and "Preview", if that helps.

Just thought you night want to know that I dont have problem with EJ in my Carrara using TransXPoser plug ins.

Yea. I'm using Transposer, too. Dunno why EJ doesn't work with it.

Can you please post screenshot or upload a file of it. I will take a look at it.

Sure. Thanks. I'd post the file, but that might be a copyright thing. Here's a screenshot.

have you tried rendering what you've got... I have problems with pieces of complex models not appearing in the assembly room when I've got the full-textured preview option checked (as you do here). Have you tried going down to gouraud or flat shading for the preview or even wireframe? You've got a lot of stuff running and are asking a lot of the computer to do all that and show you full textured previews at the same time.

I've done this many times. Always the same result even if I'm only running C3. I only fired up Poser and then Carrara to do this test. It never renders which is no surprise. There are no groups and, of course, no textures for Judy either :) One thing did just cross my mind, though. I named EJ "Judy". I wonder if maybe Transposer/C3 is trying to grab data from P5 Judy instead of EJ and making a mess of it. I'll rename and try again now.

...ah, well. That didn't work. EJ always works fine for me within Poser. I have run both PBoost and CRPro without really knowing what the hell I was doing ;) Is it possible I may have messed something up there that only shows up within C3?

Did you try to flip normals on EJ?

Wait a min. I assume that there are missing references between names and geometery information.

Open your pz3 in Excel and look for groups of EJ geometery. Compare it with your new pz3 without any modifications with other programs like PBoost or CRPro. It is possible that you can save your corrupted pz3 if you know how to name and group the geometeries. Attached is an image of EJ geometery information in Excel

Good idea. I think I'll just try reinstalling EJ first. If it doesn't work then I'll mess around with the file. Thanks for the help.
