Subject: New carrara 3 user questions

Hi, I just loaded up carrara 3 and had a few questions. I have the 2nd disk that has a zip file program that I am not sure how to load the program that looks to have some great reflections and mirror images. I was thinking on getting the training video for 99.00 that says it is for carrara 2. Will purchase of this video help me with 3 or is the diffrance between the versions make it a waste. Is there a good site for getting some quality textures downloads anyone can direct me to. or training. site. Thanks

Attached Link: http://www.delaflor.com/carrara_book.html

The files are for backgrounds; there are HDR images and jpegs. Unzip them to a folder of your choice and then load them from the properties tray: select Scene>Background>then HDRI or Map and then navigate to the folder. Carrara 3 differs from Carrara 2 in quite a few respects and although the video would be useful you might consider the new C3 book by Mike de la Flor. HTH Mark

Versions are very similar.. but most of the really good stuff has been added with version 3( personal opinion).. ANYWAY.. Carrara Studio 3 handbook is a BIG plus.. I have had it about 2 weeks and it has more than paid for itself!! I highly recommend going to Bizrate or Pricegrabber .coms do a search on google or yahoo..and shopping around, you can save up to $15 on it.. get a wide selection of shippings.. etc, but be carful.. and read the reports on each store... some have VERY bad service (though on a book... what kinda service do you need?). hope it helps :)

Hexagon, Carrara, Sculptris, and recently Sketchup.

I had the good fortune to meet Mike at this past years SIGGRAPH, and he showed me a couple of the things he was gonna put in his book. Very cool images, and his mastery of the uv editor is amazing. I had NO idea of how to use UVMapper before he show'd me a couple of the ways he went about using textures on his plane models. Great info. Opened my eyes. Now that I've said all that... I... (mumbles something...) I... OK. I haven'y ponyed up the couple bucks for the book yet. There. I said it. (Now I just have to go out and do something about it!) But I'm aimin' to!
