Subject: "Unknown Error..." won't let me open a model

From time to time, I have to deal with assorted 'unknown error' messages. They're a nuisence but don't seem to affect much. Usually happens in the Vertex Modeler. I'll select vertices, and the message will pop up saying "An Unknown Error has occurred whiled selecting vertices." But the vertices get selected. Then I move them and the message pops up again and says that the same error happened while moving vertices. But they move. Once this starts happening it will usually happen after every operation. Then it will spontaeneously stop happening. Sometimes it will follow me into the assembly Room. I've gotten used to it. I just wait it out and deal with it by keeping a finger on the ENTER key, and just clicking through the message.

Now it's happening upon opening a model. Only now the model won't open. I've been struggling with this one for the last two days. I've tried opening it through Carrara, going in through the hard-drive, closing and opening Carrara repeatedly, and re-booting the computer. Nothing works so far.

Anyone else have the same problem? Any known workarounds?

I've had this particular issue before and that's why I save a new file for every day that I work on a model. I've never figured out how to rescue a model with your issues. -Kix

Thanks Kix...even though the news is bad. Guess I'll just have to start backing-up more often.
