2D Graphics Forum FAQ
Q: What are 2D Graphics? A: "2D" refers to items that have width and height but no depth. This includes any still image made on paper, canvas or computer screen. It excludes sculpture, metal, woodcarving and other three-dimensional forms of artistry. We are most interested in those items you've created using pen, pencil, charcoal, pastels, or paint, whether those tools are physical or digital.
Q: Isn't CG-3D really 2D since it produces two-dimensional images? A: Technically quite true, but the tools required for and the process of producing a CG-3D image are very different from drawing/painting, and there are several forums here at Renderosity to address CG-3D issues.
Q: What about Photography? A: While the art of photography also produces two-dimensional images, again the tools required for and the process for producing images are quite different from drawing/painting. Renderosity offers a fine Photography forum and gallery for photo-buffs.
Q: When might we see CG-3D or Photography in the 2D Graphics forum? A: Both CG-3D and Photography items are welcome if the 3D/Photo aspects were used as a "base" from which to build upon. If your final image was completed freehand, using paints/pencils or a digital paint program, for more than simple "post-render touch-ups," please share it!
Q: What goes on in the 2D Graphics forum? A: We share tips, trade software info and links, discuss 2D-related issues and generally have fun together. Each month, a Theme is provided to help inspire your artistic creativity. We have some essential links at the top of each forum page leading to our current projects, and you can also reach all past and present projects by viewing our "Inside the 2D Graphics Forum" site pages.
