Entry #32

Title: "No Escape"

This wasn't my original vision for this image, as I started with the idea of a perspective shot from a victim hiding in an air vent as a creature reached for them. Between the camera angles and the lighting, I though the idea was a little too tight and confined so I went with a more open scene. I used industrial plating for the floor to keep the feeling of cold, unforgiving metal surrounding our viewer/victim, and placed a simple wall prop and a starry skydome (intentionally NOT an emitter) in the background to keep it dark and vague. The scene can be anywhere the viewer imagines -- a hallway on a spaceship, an abandoned factory, underground facility, whatever vision haunts your nightmares.

This was rendered in Iray (in DAZ 4.8) with depth of field provided by the camera, not postwork. Postwork was done in Corel Painthsop, adding a brightness/contrast screen layer, and a couple tone mapping adjustment layers to add a starker contrast to the lights.

Total time was about 3 hours setup, an hour rendering, and about 30-40 mins on postwork.
