Interview with January 2023 Vendor of the Month - Lilflame

Jan 12, 2023 at 07:00 am by gToon

Our January 2023 Vendor of the Month is Lilflame. This is the third time she has been chosen as the Renderosity VOM: a tribute to continuing high sales volume and creative innovation of the many excellent items she sells in her store. She has over 600 3D figure assets and models for sale all of them for the female figure. Lilflame’s fashion sense is superb as you can see if you visit her Renderosity store or watch the vendor video gallery (see above).

We’ve combined some of her earlier interviews with recent comments in the short interview below. Note that Liflame is having a store-wide sale of 50% off as part of her Vendor of the Month celebration. Sale Dates: Thursday, January 12th thru 11:59 pm (CST) on Monday, January 16th.

Renderosity: Who are you, what do you do, and where are you located?

lilflame: I live in Estonia with my husband, I love playing online MMO and other games, which inspires me to create many products. I enjoy CG art and modeling, texturing, and creating different types of products, clothing, scenes, and environments.

How long have you been creating 3D assets/media? Are you formally trained or self-taught?

Through the years, of being at Renderosity and other CG sites, I decided to be a full-time vendor as 3D was something I enjoy, and having fun creating content daily as a full-time job is also a plus. Seeing every day, others make art with products I create, inspires me to do more and better work.

I have been a member here for over 10 years and that's how long I am creating, and still learning every day something new. I have taught myself modeling, using Poser and Daz studio along the way, with tutorials and sometimes just trial and error.

How has Renderosity impacted your work as an artist and a vendor?

I joined Renderosity in 2003 I have been a member for quite some time now. It inspired me to start working with Poser and to learn to model. My first product did quite well, so it encouraged me to create more.

dForce Light Sheer Shirt for Genesis 8 and 8.1F

How do you come up with ideas for new products?

I have done quite a lot of products in all these years, so sometimes is hard to think of something new. I have my husband giving me some new ideas as well, so it helps a lot. Sometimes together with Sveva, we think of some product together. I am glad that I get some help with projects, it makes it easier and more fun :)

Your sense of design, especially in female fashion and glamor, is marvelous! How have you come to develop such a great design sense?

Being a woman I like wearing fashionable clothing myself, and this helps with many ideas. Playing quite a lot of online games as well inspires me with some of my creations. I never create items that I’ve seen online. I always vision it in a different way. We can say I always add a pinch of "lilflame" to those designs. :)

What kind of software do you use to create your products? And can you let us know what your computer setup is?

I still use my old 3ds Max, a lot of Hexagon 2, and mostly Zbrush. I still support Poser for the items that work there and a lot of DAZ Studio. I enjoy rendering with Iray so I had to upgrade my computer this year.

  • GPU: ASUS strix NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti, 6 GB
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 ,
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 2x 250 GB SSD in RAID 1, for backup.
  • Keyboard and mouse: Razer Deathstalker and Naga

What projects are you working on now?

At the moment I am finishing my upcoming product that will be released sometime next week. It is more casual this time since I've added quite a few glamour products in the past month. I like to give some variety to my work, and have different types of products, it keeps me motivated

If someone wanted to get into creating/selling digital products at Renderosity, what advice would you give them?

To never give up just because it seems difficult or new. Always learning new things will make you better and improve your quality. Changing, learning, and improving, will make your products stand out.

Thanks for the nice interview. I daughter designs costumes and dresses. I keep trying to get her to create for Renderocity and/or Daz. Maybe this will inspire her.
Big fan of Lilflame's work, but some parts of this interview are taken from her April 2018 interview.
I bought various products and I'm in love with them!
