World Intellectual Property Day April 26, 2012

Apr 26, 2012 at 12:00 am by Store Staff

This year’s theme “Celebrates Visionary Innovators” takes a look at the people who have impacted our lives. This day is celebrated by governments, businesses and schools through-out the world.

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Francis Gurry, delivers a message on Visionary Innovators who have shaped our societies and continued importance of innovation. “In the arts, innovations revolve around new ways of seeing things,” Mr. Gurry says. “A visionary artist or a composer or a writer is able to show us a different way, a new way of looking at the world.” This is so true. Just think of the painters, sculptors, architects, musicians, and writers who have helped mold our thoughts and have helped to broaden our cultural horizons.

Today, as we “Celebrate Visionary Innovators” together, Renderosity asks that you share your thoughts below on the visionary innovators who have touched your lives, whether in our society, in our work, in our homes or even in our cg art community. Here is a map that marks the celebration activities going on across the globe.

Background

WIPO’s member states initiated World IP Day in 2000 to raise public awareness about the role of IP in daily life, and to celebrate the contribution made by innovators and creators to the development of societies across the globe. World IP Day is celebrated annually on April 26, the date on which the Convention establishing WIPO entered into force in 1970.
