Browsing through TwiztedMetal’s store and it’s hard to pinpoint what she specializes in.

There seems to be one example of every category — accessories, clothing, hair — in a multitude of genre from fantasy and SciFi to romantic and everyday. The one category that stands out is her characters.

“I enjoy creating a large variety of things but I really love character creation the most,” said TwiztedMetal, a.k.a., Amanda Hill, who calls Florida home.

TwiztedMetal uses DAZ Studio software to create unique characters, like her most recent, Leilani. The Polynesian character was inspired by the Disney movie Moana.

“My most recent creation Leilani was inspired by Moana and I gave her my own unique twist,” she said.

The twist, or should we say twizt, TwiztedMetal gave Leilani is 25 Maori facial and body tribal tattoo presets.

TwiztedMetal plans to venture into new territory in the future and expand her offerings even more. But in the meantime, she shared with the Renderosity community what inspires her and how she creates new products.

How long have you been designing and why did you start?

TwiztedMetal: I’ve been designing for about six years and I always knew I wanted to do something creative and artistic. I stumbled across Renderosity and instantly fell in love with the whole idea. I had so many ideas and wanted to make those ideas come to life, which is why I decided to become a vendor.

What inspires your creations?

TwiztedMetal: Inspiration for me come from all over. Everyday I see inspiration in things like movies or artwork. Most of my creations have been inspired by characters I’ve seen in movies or places I go inspire me to create things themed around them.

What is your favorite thing to design?

TwiztedMetal: I love creating characters. I enjoy creating a large variety of things but I really love character creation the most.

Tell me about your more recent creations.

TwiztedMetal: My most recent creation Leilani was inspired by Moana and I gave her my own unique twist. I like things to be different and not things you see all the time, but Moana was definitely the inspiration behind her. Like with Leilani and some of my more recent creations, I have tried to step outside of my comfort zone and try new methods and completely new things. Bucky was one of my more recent creations that I stepped way outside my box for. I usually don’t do Toon-type characters but she was a blast and I will definitely do more toons in the future.

What is the process of creating images like for you?

TwiztedMetal: My process is mostly experimenting until I get a image I really like. Once I render out a character, I usually add backgrounds in Photoshop and then I usually don’t do too much except a contrast adjustment and lighting adjustment if needed. For more artistic renders, I experiment with a lot of color layers and fun effects. It’s a fun process but a timely one.

What are your plans for future projects?

TwiztedMetal: My plans for future products are to create better products that are even more unique and different then my last. I always like to try and better my products and try new things each time. I will likely have more products that are out of my comfort zone in the future. I would eventually like to be able to do most everything.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

TwiztedMetal: People might be surprised to know that I have never had any formal training I’m completely self taught. Everything I know has been learned through trial and error and a lot of persistence.
