Solutions to Reported Renderosity Site Issues

*** PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE ARTICLE CAREFULLY TO ENSURE YOU DON'T EXPERIENCE ANY OF THE PROBLEMS LISTED BELOW. ***
One problem members have mentioned is that some pages load slow or become frozen, and that the text input boxes for the SiteMail or forums are not visible. These issues relate to browser settings and/or the anti-virus software being used. To avoid page display problems, please make sure that your browser is updated to the latest version and set to allow java scripts from Renderosity, because the text (or reply) boxes for the SiteMail and forums are java script. There are known problems with the AVG8’s feature called Web Shield. It is known to slow down access to the site, and sometimes will crash your browser. This feature could potentially alter your page load speeds for our pages as well other pages outside of Renderosity. Instructions for disabling Web Shield can be found here. Reminder: Renderosity is best viewed in IE7 or Firefox.
Another reported issue affecting some members is a problem unzipping downloaded ZIP files from Renderosity. We have been working on a continuing basis within the Community Center Forum to try and replicate/troubleshoot the issue with members that have been experiencing this problem. After testing hardware on our end, and completing some exhaustive trial and error with our members, we've determined that the problem started last week when we upgraded the firmware on our firewall. The upgrade was important to ensure continued security for our network. Then we discovered a compatibility issue within NETGEAR brand routers. These routers have a feature called Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) that makes downloads from our site appear corrupt. The most common error seen is “CRC check failed”. There are two simple solutions to this problem. The first fix is to simply change your download link to start with https://market.renderosity.com/ instead of http://www.renderosity.com since NetGear’s SPI code does not appear to interfere with SSL (secure) connections. The other fix is to disable the SPI on your NetGear router. NETGEAR's support site has a fix for the issue here. The process to completely rectify the incompatibility issue is ongoing, and we appreciate your patience. We hope the fixes above will make your Renderosity browsing experience enjoying while giving us the ability to finish working out the kinks.
