September 2014 Vendor of the Month - Tempesta3d

Sep 02, 2014 at 12:00 am by Store Staff

file_507099.jpgCongratulations to Tempesta3d for being Renderosity's Vendor of the Month for September!

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Who is 'Tempesta3d'?

To help understand who is Tempesta3d, one must know the meaning of the word Tempesta. It is "Storm" in italian and it was chosen because all our creations come from brainSTORMS.

Most of you know very well Jonothan (Jon) already. During our many evenings with a good pizza, he draws sketches for characters and facial expressions. He is also following the customers for technical support, because my knowledge of the english language is not very good (in fact, he is translating all of this too, LOL). Jon is a treasure and I cannot forget to mention his cat, our mascot ;)

Lory (myself) tries to translate those ideas on paper into 3d creations. Tempesta is also what I constantly feel inside my heart. I have a very passionate soul and the emotions flow in my veins intensely. I cannot forget to mention my dear Christopher, my loved one, my soulmate, and the force that pushes me to continue this journey.

How long have you been involved in digital art?

The passion for art was always inside me. I dreamt sooo much to enter in an Art School as a teenager, but my parents decided on something else. I never gave up my dreams, and I was always doing something artistic: embroidery, Photoshopping, drawing, food decorations....Until I fell in love with Poser, and Christopher pushed me to stop doing a job I hated and try embracing my dreams. This was 2009 officially, but I started learning Poser in 2006.

Can you give us some hints on what you may be currently working on?

Right now, I am working on a fighting lady, while the amazing Lunchlady is creating some kickass poses for her. The rest of our upcoming projects are secrets, and Jon's cat will kill us if we tell :) I can only say that Halloween is coming, my favorite season ;)

What software is currently in your digital toolset and why?

Soo many! Poser Pro 2014, because I LOVE Poser. Corel Photopaint and Blacksmith3d, both used for texturing, and the latter is essential for seams. For rendering, sometimes I use the great Reality3 for Poser from Pret-a-3d. I am currently studying ZBrush, and I really like it, also it's very complex.

Could you list any current favorites among the products you've created and tell us a bit about their creation?

My favorites are "real life" characters. I get easily bored with pretty fairies and perfect bodies. I know that many customers prefer smooth skins and gorgeous shapes, but I like to represent those who I see on the street, especially the old or a bit different - the underdogs. I find diversity fascinating and enriching. The horror/fantasy ones are also what I like most, because Jon's and my minds can escape reality and explore the dark side. Like our clients know, we tend to use pictures of real people to achieve more skin realism.

What are the biggest challenges you face in your work?

There is not enough time in a day to accomplish what I wish, and also I have the tendency to get distracted a lot from real life issues. I often lose focus. Another challenge is that I am never really happy with my results. I am constantly a newbie. And this is true, I have a lot to learn and every gallery reminds me of this.

Can you tell us a bit about your creative process, and are there any workflow tips you might wish to provide?

Like I said, Jon is a great observer, and he loves to make sketches of people he sees around. We discuss the details. Then I sit at my pc and start to create morphs and textures for it. The funniest parts are the facial expressions. We actually make faces in front of each other to see how the facial muscles react, and then try to reproduce them. But, ultimately, I am always amazed about how the clients can transform my characters into such gorgeous artwork. My only tips: work hard, observe every detail of real life, and be honest and friendly with your customers and fellow sellers.

Do you have any other advice for aspiring Digital Content Developers?

Never give up your dreams. Don't do what I did and wait years before accomplishing what you desire most! Don't lose patience with yourself and the programs. I learn a lot more from the mistakes, because I am very stubborn and I keep insisting until I figure things out. Especially, don't think you cannot do it because you have no school background or technical skills. Those are not essential. what matters is what is in your soul.

And last, remember that this can be a very competitive sector, so try to remember that everyone has his own style and they all deserve respect. The best experience of this year was a big cooperation between sellers when we had the "70's Disco Party." It was magical for me, being all together making something for all of you to enjoy. I wish there coul be more occasions like this one to remind each one of us that we are all here to make art together.

How has this online Community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?

Renderosity is our first love and I cannot brag enough about all of the people in this wonderful community. From admins and testers with the patience of Saints (Jenn, you know well we are talking about you also), to the other incredible artists that inspire and teach us everyday, to customers that use our products to create masterpieces, we continue to be amazed by the people here and their talents.

A special thanks to Schonee, she was the first to welcome us in here with grace and warmth. Marcia and Flaviok, Naomi (lunchlady), Joanna (StudioArtVartanian), Margy, Wolfie, Cybertenko, JeffersonAF, all the Elite Models3d Team...  But the list of people to thank is really HUGE, and I feel like I will surely forget to mention some names, please forgive me if I do.

We are all from different parts of the world, with different languages and cultures... But, we are all one, united by this passion that we share through images, music, poems, photos... I wish the world was like Renderosity :)

Do you have any final words or advice for other digital artists?

Please Keep on creating your dreams! This world can be mean and cold. Art is what makes us human. Keep the music playing, the colours flowing, the poems gracing our minds with their words. Art is our shield, our hope, what unites us and our legacy.

And on one last note, I recently became an aunt. My beautiful little angel nephew (together with all my many furry friends) is the reminder to enjoy all the fun little things that life has to offer and that dreams are stronger than the most powerful weapon.
