Batman and Julia raced down a wide corridor and in a few moments entered a tall and wide cavern. They pulled to a stop next to the currently recognizable Batmobile. Batman stepped off the Batcycle first then helped Julia. She removed her helmet and took in the sights. Prior to being whisked away by Fox's protective detail, Julia had acquired other clothes she kept at the office. She wore a sleeveless blouse and her favorite red sneakers. Heels were for show only. In fact she hated wearing heels. She had kept her labcoat, because that was all she had and wore that on the motorcycle ride. She removed that as well after removing the helmet. She was surpised at the warmth in the cavern as she looked around and took in the sights.
“Wow! What a mess. I never pictured the Batcave like this. Do you have a batmaid?”
Bruce gave grunting laugh. “Hmph. I see your sense of humor is coming back. This is a new wing under construction.”
“Ahh.” Then Julia turned to the masked crusader. “So what's the big surprise?”
Bruce paused and looked at Julia intensely for a moment wondering if he was doing the right thing. His instincts told him he could trust her and he really needed her trust if he was going to save Diana.
Julia began to get nervous and fidget. “What are you looking at?”
“So, you think you can save Diana?”
“I know I can if we can get to Cyber's hidden lab. I think I can help Hespira too.”
“Very well.” Said Bruce. “Then you should know the truth. I don't work for Bruce Wayne.” And he removed his high tech cowl. “I AM Bruce Wayne.”
“Oh my God. “ Julia was visibly shocked. “I should have put it together! Holy sh....Wow. But how did you make it look like you were rescuing Robin and Hespira?”
“I have a friend you will meet in the next room. Have you heard of the Martian Manhunter?”
“Yeah, I guess so. The green guy with super powers like Wonder Woman and Superman.”
“Yes, he's a shape changer too.”
“Wow. Clever. You can have Batman standing right next to you if you want.”
“Wow, Bruce Wayne. So I'll be working for Batman!” She smiled and looked excited.
“Yes, but no one is going to know that right?” Bruce countered.
“Oh. Right. Of course! You know I can keep a secret, but this will be a good secret.” She turned and looked him in the eye. “Bruce Wayne, you have my full trust and I will never divulge your secret.”
“Thank you.” He replied.
Julia took in the cave again noticing the odd accoutrements. “So, what's up with the upright dinosaur? I mean everyone knows they walk horizontal after that Dinosaur Park movie.”
“That? Well that was a prize awarded to my grandfather for a job he did back in the day. It's a robotic dinosaur from a nasty place called Dinosaur Island. Originally an amusement park, the owner had another agenda back in those days. It was in the forties or early fifties.”
“Grandfather eh? Wait, your grandfather? He was Bruce Wayne too, right?”
“Yes he was.”
“The founder and creator of Gotham at the 1929 World's Fair.” Julia posed.
“That was him.”
“So let me guess. The tales of a Batman from bygone years is not urban legend and your grandfather was him.”
“You're quick.” Bruce said sardonically.
“Wow. A family tree of super heroes. And all those villains with the same name?”
“Except for Dr. Friese, the Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Two Face of today are all copycats. Not to mention that there are plenty that have passed on and just as many new ones lurking out there. One other, Raz al Ghul is still the same, but he's an exceptional character who is older than even Diana or Superman. Friese voluntarily went into suspended animation until a lawyer would want to take up his case again. So far, no takers. But I'm sure it's a matter of time.”
“Hunh, you really are Gotham's son, aren't you?” Julia said.
“So it would seem.” Bruce nodded.

“How about that giant Joker card?” Julia asked as Bruce began to walk and usher her along. “That was a gift from the current Joker. It was his announcement that since there was a new Batman, there should be a new Joker. I still have no idea of his true identity, but we've confirmed he is not related to the original man, who is now deceased. He died in Arkham where my grandfather put him.” “Creepy.” And Julia shivered a little. “I keep it as a reminder of the sickness out there.” “And now he's out again.” Julia sighed. “I'll get him.” Bruce said looking straight ahead. As they walked Julia took in the giant computer console and another bank of consoles. She couldn't help commenting on all the spare parts and debris on the floor. “You know, I'm sure I can help with this. I mean who's helping in the construction?” “Well, me, Alfred, Fox and a few of his trusted men.” “Who's Alfred?” “My butler.” “Butler? You mean that old man driver you have?” “Don't call him old man. He's a man of many talents and has served this family well.” “Sorry. But he must be pretty old.” “Yes, but some strange circumstances and an encounter with Raz al Ghul has helped in his longevity.” “Hmph. Interesting. Wow, look at this old car. Was this your Grandfather's Batmobile?” Julia was eying a very large two seater that was large and looked heavily armored. “Sort of. It was his last design, but it was never built. Before I left the states for some years I sold the design to some Hollywood people and they used it for that awful series of movies in the late eighties and nineties. The memory of my grandfather was already faded and they just twisted the stories all over the place.” “Yeah, I saw all those. The first was okay.” “Yeah...okay.” And Bruce changed his attention. “Enough. We need to focus ahead. Hespira is here and she's not going to like seeing you. You are safe, but you're going to have to come to terms with your part in her miscreation.” “I know. But I've been thinking about it and there may be more than a couple ways to help. I can't bring back her old body, it is likely too decayed by now. I imagine the Amazons have it back and buried her anyway.” “What can you do?” “I can build another brain like the one Cyber had made or we can find a volunteer to give up their body for her.” “Are you kidding!?” Bruce turned to Julia. “I know, but the brain is going to take a long time as would be building a fresh new cybernetic body. And the problem with that is time. Hespira's current body is too weak and sickly to support her much longer, even with the cyber enhancements. I can probably fix things to help her live longer, but I don't think it would be long enough for me to build a whole new positronic brain.” “There's no other choices?” Bruce sounded like he was urging her to think outside the box. “Well, there is one other possibility to preserve her until I could build her a new brain and body, but I'd rather not say what that is until I've had a chance to do some more calculations.” “Fair enough.” They had left the large open chamber and walked down a long corridor carved from the living rock. It opened into a large room, though smaller than the first, that held computer banks, consoles and other scientific instruments. Three figures in the room all stopped what they were doing and turned all at once to the pair that entered the room. Continued...

Just another quick note before continuing, but a special thanks to RodS for pointing me to the giant Batcomputer console you see. It was a freebie and is inspired by Batman the Animated series and later DC Movies and even the Batman Beyond series. Thanks a lot Rod!

And one more note, the Joker image for the giant card was obtained from here http://www.ironcowprod.com/free-downloads-the-complete-list/ He has quite a few cool things in the super hero and sci-fi genre. And he does a lot of real life models, I mean hold in you hand models. Cool stuff.

Man! You do weave a most entrancing tale, Art! And as always, the artwork is just awesome! The lighting is so perfect - it makes you feel like you're right there in the Batcave with Bruce and Julia. Superb all the way! And you are most welcome, my friend! Glad you found that computer useful. When I saw that, you were the first person I thought of. LOL I grabbed it, too - might use it at some point..... I dunno.... Maybe the T.N.A. Girls meet Batman? LOL!
