SUMMER OF 1987 LEFT: The very off-limits Kelly (age 14). RIGHT: Big sister Didi (age 22) in her trademark white bikini, ready to cause some male brain damage. It's amazing how thirty years can pass in the blink of an eye. 1987 was a magical year in Hillville. For starters, Didi and her good friend Helen took the trip of a lifetime, where Didi met Mr. So-close-and-yet-so-far. Little did she realize that she didn't need to search the world over; Mr. Right was closer than she thought. As for Kelly, she would start high school in the fall and find it very... interesting. Also, she would acquire her first "guardian angel." (More on that another time.) Finally, and quite importantly, Miss Strong proved once and for all to everyone that she could hold her own in a fight. She was definitely not bluffing...... But anyway, in Hillville, and around America, the young folks were grooving to "Bad," rocking out to "Sweet Child o' Mine," and swooning at Dirty Dancing. Sure, life then wasn't perfect, but in Hillville, they were having a great summer indeed.
