Description

This is a commissioned internal illustration an for italian Steampunk anthology book (illustrations will be printed in full color). This is illustration is for a novel named "Rigoletto" a sterampunk version of the Rigoletto classic opera. The frame will be the same for all the internal illustrations of the book. See the book cover art in one of my last Renderosity posts. More Steampunk artworks to come. Rendered in Poser 7, postwork with Photoshop 7 and Dynamic-Photo HDR. By the way, for those who still do not know: Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, fantasy, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s. Steampunk is now back in fashion - see the 24.400.000 of Google results about the word "steampunk". Steampunk involves a setting where steam power is still widely used - usually Victorian era Britain - that incorporates elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned them, based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, art, etc. This technology may include such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne. Other examples of steampunk contain alternative history-style presentations of such technology as lighter-than-air airships, analog computers, or such digital mechanical computers as Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace's Analytical engine. Loving this work! As food for thought, I made my own genre called Punk Noir, focusing on the under dog type characters and 'motifs' of cyberpunk fused with steampunk creations in the 1920s-mid 1950s. I'm hoping for widespread acceptance :-)

Another brilliant Steampunk image! Brilliant work, my friend. Bravo! I see you have the Faraday Cage in the background. As I am sure you are aware, most people either don't know or have forgotten that electricity was all the rage during the so called "Age of Steam". It was considered the "Energy of the Future" by folks of that era. So your use of electrical FX in the background of this image is well justified and shows your thorough understanding of the time period.
