Description

With this collage, I tried to fulfil the desire to Kaartijer... he wanted to see better the church in its entirety! The Church, formerly known as the Old Cathedral, is among the most outstanding examples of Romanesque Art in Pisa. It was built in the ninth century, but was completed between the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Have a beautiful day/night! :)

very nice pictures, do you know why the was built in to colors?. the top half is a lighter in color, I am just wondering if there is a story behind that.

The bichromy horizontal is given by bands of different colored marble to give more impetus to the building.

Thanks for sharing this and with all the angles. It feels so small and compactly tight from he front view, but not so small from the side view. It has such a different feel to it from other older buildings. like it was made more for a fortress; meaning to keep things out rather than adding things in. The last on the bottom right with the light enhances its mightiness. what a nice package! Great job!

Wonderful shot, Maria. Love that Cathedral. It is very beautiful. From a time... when they thought about getting beauty into architecture. Nowadays... they don't give a BEEEP how it looks. As long as it's cheap. So in 2008 they make a lot of square meters.. and try to keep the price low... And it end up being ugly discount structures. Great captures from a time where beauty meant something, in architecture. Now it is only about money... everything else is secondary.+5
