Description

My friend John knows a thing or to when growing his onions for show. He had a first for these and you can see why. He also grows large leeks which can be 4 feet tall and you may be saying "Ah the taste, what about the taste" but I can assure you they are very good, in fact every year he drops a leek and an onion on our doorstep. Julie makes soup with them.

Aah!!! This is formidable, Jeff. Your photo, and your 'John-gardener'. What a treat, and I just love to see this very special photo. It's a great POV too.

I hope no one makes him angry. I would hate to read the news that someone was beaten to death with an onion. Three enormous and perfect specimens. Your friend is a master gardener. We have contests over here as well. Last year a pumpkin captured first place at a local fair weighing in at over 1,000 pounds. But then we have a terrible obesity problem in this country.

Have Julie send me a quart of that soup, will you? LOL! I'm thinking about making onion soup this winter, and am already debating over broth vs cream. Ahhhhhhh ... such a choice! :)

I used to work with a bloke in London named John Onions, truly that was his name. His nicname was pickle. Enormous things there, my recipes call for a small onion :)

You got a great shot of these fantastic onions. At first I thought they were a porcelain creation because they are so perfect.
