Description

In an alternate history scenario, a behemoth Focke-Wulf Ta-400 bomber/reconnaissance aircraft lifts off the runway as a film crew documents the success. I thought I would do this as if it happened at a remote "secret" base. Top secret or not, these events are always "filmed for posterity" of course, but more likely most of the time as some sort of vain aggrandizement of the personal triumph of the principal participants. The Ta-400 in real life never got past the wind tunnel phase. All of its specifications were the designer's estimations. The design was Focke-Wulf's entry into the "Amerika Bomber" program, the ambitious undertaking that intended to field a long-range bomber capable of reaching the continental United States and any other distant country that fell within the Nazi's grandiose ambitions. Luckily it never came to fruition. One shudders to consider what a German victory in North Africa or success in acquiring oil fields in Russia would have meant to their many tentacled dreams. Luckily, history dealt a very different hand. Focke-Wulf Ta-400 Long range bomber/reconnaissance aircraft: Really cool model by Neiwil (Neil Wilson) constructed with some secrecy down at "the Plant", and shared generously for a trial spin at my remote secret base. Thanks, Neil!!!!! Sdkfz Cargo version: Also a product of "The Plant", offered generously for free by Neiwil at sharecg. Bunkers and flight tower: Cool models free at 3dwarehouse (by fingerz, I think) Runway: Modified a bit to handle the bomber, but a very cool road by Mcgyver, free at sharecg. Camera crew: Epici lo-poly enemy soldier with ranman38 german uniforms shrink wrapped to fit and the Russian overcoat by JTrout available in the free section here at Rendo, and also for good measure, an Einz Vogel German trooper by Thunderr available here at Rendo (very versatile set!) tweaked a bit at the gym in the basement. Drawing a blank on the camera and tripod, another free model. PoserPro14,Vue6Infinite,PS Cs3

Excellent render Bill, and the alternative history element is always a good idea. We weren't so lucky this side of the Atlantic and my mother still remembers as a child the night bombing of London and the glow in the distance. Good work.
