Description

Bryce7.1Pro/Photoshop Just a simple render to test more settings in Premium mode and True Ambiance...main ship is a model I originally created in Vue8Frontier,converted by fellow 3D artist Steve Allman into an obj format and textured in modified Bryce metal mats.Escort ships are one of my first models created in Bryce5,with Bryce metal mats...I've always liked the retro look to them! Sky,light and atmo are all custom...sky used as IBL with sun enabled.Postwork consisted of a levels adjustment, signature and resizing. Thanks for following my work, and for any comments you wish to leave!

Cool looking test render... The ships look great and the lighting appears spot on.

Looks great. A couple of things about TA. TA legacy mode means that TA derives its intensity from the ambient channel, not the diffuse channel. This means that if the material has no glow assigned, then it will not bounce light either. This is physically wrong, no other software uses the ambient channel as an input for indirect bounced light. By definition radiosity should be a diffuse inter-reflection. Thus, in the new Bryce 7 the input has been reassigned to the diffuse channel. So my suggestion is to never use the legacy mode. Also, scattering correction is a big issue. In the old TA the scattering was wrong, biased so that light was sent along certain angles only, instead of fired statistcally evenly. The result was what looked like specular highlights or "wetness" to the surfaces. Scattering correction sends rays flying in all directions providing much more realistic and accurate results. I am soooo sad to read about your computer being eaten by some virus or other issue. Why do bad things happen to good people? Anyhow, keep at it. You always inspire me. I did promise long ago to send you some info on TA, but good Lord have I been busy as heck. We shall talk soon. take care buddy!
