Description

This is the Hivewire horse in the Forest Superior. I rendered it large (3000 pixels wide) so that I could change the resolution to 300 dpi and still have a 10 inch print. Trouble was, it took 18 hours to render! And then, wouldn't you know, I didn't like the color of the horse (it was originally bay and very dark). Not wanting to spend another 18 hours rendering, I hit on the idea of making the whole scene invisible except for the horse. Then I changed the texture on the horse and rendered it to a png file which I then layered over the original bay horse in the image. Add a little post work in Photoshop Elements - a bit of masking around the feet so he looks like he's standing in the grass and on his butt to let the leaves show. Also added a reflection in the water, and a bit of cloud in the sky. And that was it.
