Hello, there's a free offer for Daz to Blender bridge today at Daz. Other bridges are free too. Don't know if its a special offer or a permanent offer.
Feel free to get yours :)
Don't think I can post a link to the page here. Sorry.

Those bridges were released about a week ago, maybe longer, and are all free as a permanent offer.

Ok, thanks. I've got mine now.
It is said on the page they are open source too. I like that.

There are several Youtube videos outlining its use and shortcomings but they are excellent sources of information and tips.

Hi Lobo, this is on the product page of my order. at the end of the product description it is written and I quote:
"...
Get the Daz to Blender Bridge and start cross-platform creating today!
See how easy the Blender Bridge is to use.
Who can you build with the Blender Bridge?
This project is open source. Learn more.
"
Unfortunately the link to Learn more is dead.
And, thinking twice about this maybe they refer to Blender. Yes I think this is what this means sorry 😀

Daz did not develop this bridge ,they bought it from a single developer that used to sell it as commercial plugin.

This "Bridge" is not really a bridge but a unidirectional exporter for only the G3/G8 figures.

There are also similar new DAZ( G3/8) exporters for Autodesk Max,Maya and Maxon Cinema4D and some new Daz user forums for those Applications.

It is good that they are all free because These exporters have ,once again laid bare the impracticality of trying get a fully realized Genesis figure into another program.

Genesis works and looks so great ,in Daz studio, because of the massive amounts Joint control, subD,HD morph Data being live streamed from your Daz Data folder in Daz studio.

The problem is how does one move a Fully functional genesis model to another program??. not a crippled genesis like the DSON option for poser.?

Well you can set up some complex socket to stream that Data into your external application, as it does in Daz studio, but some of that Data ( HD morphs) is closed source and proprietary

Also you have ZERO control over the development/update cycle of Autodesk Max,Maya and Maxon Cinema4D or even Blender(unless you build and maintain/distribute your own Custom Blender branch under the very liberal GPL) .

Thus Autodesk or Maxon can easily break your Bridge with a minor decimal point/bug fix upgrade keeping your Dev team in an endless pursuit of a moving target.

Your only other option is to export as much of that Data as possible into the other program in some uber bloated FBX file.

Daz has chosen the latter and you should visit those new third party forums on the Daz site and read about ridiculous 6-19 GIGABYTE blend files that are impossible to navigate with a single G8 female with minmal clothing.?

Apprently there are tedious manual "workarounds" that involve stripping out most of the morph bloat after export but if you are only rendering stills you may as well have exported a static .obj file at hi resolution and saved yourself some time& labor.

You cannot export an animated Daz figure, not that it matters as the majority of Daz studio user Do stills/portraits You cannot export Dforce draped clothing you cannot send over props and environments/ update poses ..only G3/8 figures ?

Personally I have left the Daz Eco system.

I make my own Character clothing content and use Iclone 7& CC3 pipeline to send my animated Character to Blender for EEVEE &Cycles rendering.

My advice to Blender users needing a free plugin to use Genesis figure in Blender is to use the free Diffeomorphic plugin that exports ALL generations of Genesis an lets you load poses, animation as well as props and environments into Blender without creating ridiculously bloated blend files.

Thank you wolf359 I thought when looking at this bridge that it looked familiar to the one being sold on Gumroad not to long ago one major issue I have already found with this bridge was the install is no where near perfect especially if you have a custom Blender install and if the average user does not have their AppData folder visible (which is invisible by default. I will look into the new forums @Daz hopefully to gather useful information I still have IClone 6 and with the 3Dxchange Pro wonder if they are still good enough to still use I have not upgraded to the current version because got a bit pricey at the moment
