Subject: Where is Wardrobe Wizard?

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 20 September 2019 at 8:32 PM · edited Sat, 04 May 2024 at 1:43 PM

I can't find Wardrobe Wizard any more. It's not in the scripts menu, or in the Smith Micro Python folder or in the Poser 11 Content folder.

Not a big deal, since I have the files on an old computer that I'm not bothering to upgrade Poser on, but where'd it go? The manual still has a section on WW. Did I forget to install something?

Glitterati3D ( ) posted Fri, 20 September 2019 at 9:37 PM

No, you didn't forget anything. PhilC opted not to include it in Poser any longer.

hborre ( ) posted Fri, 20 September 2019 at 9:37 PM

Looks like Wardrobe Wizard is completely gone. PhilC has retired and is no longer investing time and effort into the application.

CobraBlade ( ) posted Fri, 20 September 2019 at 9:41 PM

Hmm, I still have it. But then I replace all the new preference files with all my old ones after installing to get everything back to the way I like it. Could it be that the new update doesn't come with WW and is currently pointing to a new folder for scripts (that doesn't have WW)?

Thanks for the info. I still have the old files, and they appear to work.

Sorry that PhilC's no longer into Poser, but happy retirement to him.

I still have it listed as well, but then I chose to use my established preferences. If I hadn't, though, I would've done what you did Cobra, so I still have all the Python scripts I had before.

Having just recently started with Poser, the Wardrobe Wizard was touted to me as essential for using the available clothing on the different models and being able to use 3rd party clothing. And now it's gone. I mentioned this concern when I first found out about the new content- it does make sense to ditch the legacy content because of all of its compatibility issues- but only if that content is upgraded to compatibility or replaced with something equivalent that works with the new figures. It appears that the new content, as nice as it is, does not offset the loss of the old content. I did a quick experiment to see if the pants of other figures will conform to Dusk, and it will not. Something on the order of WW is important, Dusk simply doesn't have the wardrobe- and I don't have the money to buy all the things I would need to replace the things that I have but will no longer work. Is there some other workaround?

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 20 September 2019 at 10:20 PM

You can still use Wardrobe Wizard if you have the files from a previous version of Poser.

I think most people use the Fitting Room instead these days, anyway.

I can't seem to find it. I forgot about Fitting Room since I didn't have it with Poser 11.1 Standard. I just took a look at it but the manual seemed a little obtuse. Maybe in the morning,...

I think it should have kept scripts you had already installed.

It might not be on the Scripts menu any more. If you still have it, it will be in C: -> Program Files -> Smith Micro -> Poser 11 -> Runtime -> Python -> poserScripts -> PhilC

The Fitting Room is not quite as easy as Wardrobe Wizard, but it works with most figures. With Wardrobe Wizard, you have to buy "modules" for each figure you want to convert clothing for (though some were included for free). And with PhilC retired, there won't be new modules for new figures like LaFemme.

For the change in shape of Victoria4 clothing, so the 'fitting' of the garment to the figure you can use the Prefitter with the LaFemme plugin. They are both in my store.

You might try using Crossdresser

That's always been my converter of choice when it comes to clothing. To my knowledge, nothing converts footwear. Crossdresser also supports the removal of bones and the transferring of morphs. There is no reason a jacket should have shin bones for instance. I think the module price is the same but they have Dawn and Dusk as well. Still waiting for word on LaFemme. I just sent them a site mail. Their site.

Fitting Room and brush morphs can replace Wardrobe Wizard. If needed, the use of draping in Cloth Room also helps. WW was and is a great tool, but you don't really need it these days.

Unless you purchased the license for Dusk ... WW wouldn't have worked with him anyway. Just a head's up.

I haven't got that far yet. Does it work on conforming clothing or only on 'dynamic clothing'?

It does conforming. You can even use it to convert dynamic clothing to conforming. I use it to rig my shoes and boots for my freebies. I find I get a nicer conversion with that than WW but it's not as easy. And I personally have never gotten the fitting tools to work well in there. I usually scale and bend the clothing to mostly fit the figure (not conformed of course) and use the morph brush to fine-tune it around a zeroed (not just the way it loaded but zeroed) figure. and then I take it into the fitting room and do not zero the clothing when you add it. Then just make the figure. Others probably have gotten the fitting tools to get good results. I use the tools I know.

I hope someone can help. I installed XD4 from evilinnocence. I just bought the XD4 All Licenses bundle, too, and installed everything. Twice. I don't have any more Skipped Figures in the Updater list. However, when I open XD4, it says I have no licenses and I should get support files from the Updater. I can't see anything left in Updater to get. What am I missing? (I've sent an email to evilinnocence, but I'm hoping someone here might have an answer sooner.) Thanks.

Arrgh! Never mind. I just read this on evilinnocence site. [NOTE: The licenses will not appear in your account until we manually process your order. Allow up to 24 hours for processing. If you need the licenses immediately, please purchase the licenses as individual products.]

Since I first read this thread, I hadn't actually tried to call up Wardrobe Wizard, figuring it wouldn't come up, but surprise, surprise, surprise, it did. Here's what I did.

  1. Under the Scripts menu, I hit "Wardrobe Wizard Menu".
  2. A smaller Dialogue Window opened up telling me to Open the Window-Python scripts Menu.
  3. The Python Scripts Menu appear, buttons fully loaded.
  4. Something I had never done before, so I was pleasantly pleased. Click on the "Convert" button.
  5. Wardrobe Wizard App should open up.

Paul and Pauline are the last two figures added to Wardrobe Wizard as far as I can tell. It would be nice if Renderosity/Bondware added La Femme.

Has no one tried to call up Wardrobe Wizard since I posted this?

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 18 October 2019 at 10:57 AM

I think you must have installed Poser keeping your old preferences, or something like that.

I didn't, because there were issues. That means WW is gone. I don't even see it on the menu to call up, and it's nowhere to be found if I search for it manually.

(Until I copied it over from my old computer, which is not connected to the net and still has an old version of Poser Pro 11.)

Can someone please give me some help in getting Wardrobe wizard working again? I've installed PP11.3 and after reading the post, some of you have gotten it to work again. Can you send me some instructions on how it's done?

Thanks

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 19 April 2020 at 9:10 AM

Those of us who got it working either installed Poser with the "keep your preferences" option, or had it from another version/installation of Poser, and transferred it over.

hborre ( ) posted Sun, 19 April 2020 at 10:42 AM

The 'Keep your preferences' only applies to manual setups to the app and your library setup. Anything else that's legacy to Poser will be deleted and replaced. If you choose a different installation for Poser, thus preserving your original version, you will still have access to WW.
