Saw it! Enjoyed it! Not sure how else it could have ended. I mean, even in the book the martians just kind of die.

Very funny! Yes, go see the movie. The ending is only disappointing if you are expecting something along the lines of the ending for "Independance Day" in which we humans outsmart the aliens. In my opinion, it is a Sci-Fi Horror movie; but appropriately so. Quite scary and ominous and disturbing.
Okay, that was damned funny. The image of the machine thuping off across the park with it's tentacles reaching for the stick just cracks me up. Not sure what will happen when teh multi-ton machine hits the soft ground with one of those pointy legs, but that image is worth another laugh. Well done.
