Description
First of all we would very much like to thank all of you who have commented on our first 3 posts. They are very much appreciated!!
This is our fourth image in our tissues and organs of the human body series. This image, like the previous post, is from the dermis of the skin. In fact, it is the same image as the previous post (Winter) but with different post-work. My colleague Miranda did the post-work on this image and I did the post-work on Winter. The undulating structures seen in this image are bundles of collagen fibers. The collagen fiber bundles interweave with one another to form a dense, 3-dimensional mat or fabric of tough, resilient connective tissue.
The original photomicrograph was taken on a Zeiss Photomicroscope and recorded on Kodachrome 25 Color Slide Film. The Kodachrome slide was subsequently scanned at 1200 dpi. The post-work was done in Photoshop. The final image reminded us of a raging fire and hence the name Inferno.
It has occurred to us that some of these images (like Iris, Winter, and Inferno) would make nice patterns and colors for silk scarves. However, we do not know how one goes about converting a digital image to a silk scarf without losing the image intensity, etc. If anyone has done anything like this I would love to hear from you. They would make great birthday presents for my wife (I think)!!
Some of you have asked us to post the original photomicrograph from which Winter and Inferno are derived. I will try to get that image uploaded tomorrow.

Wonderful abstract photo-art. Yes they would make designs for scarves etc. I also think that similar coloured ones would combine to make a fantastic Triptych if printed large on canvas, or even divide one image if you had the resolution available to do that.
