Description

Saturday was a day in a million. Clear blue skys showing up the snow speckled hills to the horizon. The tourists were out in force. The RAF Mountain Rescue landrover is in the carpark at the ready. As I came up to the second top, I saw a guy slithering down the steep icy slope on his backside towards me. He looked at me sort of cheesily and said as if in appology.. "I didn't think it was going to be so slippy" On the way back down there was the inevitable bloke in trainers tramping up the 4000ft hill. Back at the Carpark at 1:30, a family with two young kids were setting out to climb a Munro, its dark at 5pm. Those guys in the RAF MR are going to be busy this year I think.

Lovely mountain shot - the rescue folk everywhere do a wonderful job with good humour in the face of amazing provocation.

Very nice shot, Aangus. Before I retired one of my colleagues was on a MRT. He was not often in - either training, training others, or being called out for an live Mountain Rescue. He was very professional. A pity the weekend walkers can sometimes be so thoughtless and ill-prepared for the dangers on the hills and mountains. Regards, John.

In the forefront your capture has so much depth. This is as good as being there. Not so slippy though!

Fantastic as always. You are making me utterly homesick. I have so much admiration for rescuers. Do you think the guy in trainers was looking for his girlfriend who was wearing stillettos?

Wonderful light, fantastic depth. Yes the mountain rescue will be busy I'm sure, when I was up the mighty Lomond; there was a young woman in a short skirt and stilettos! She never made it. I wonder why! I think some people just dont understand the risks.
