Description

I worked on this one for a long time. I wanted to load up the scene with a crowd of people but just couldn't do it successfully. So the first element added ended up being the only element. Interaction between the figures was tricky too. There was warriors, sacrifices, you name it. All had a strange and unvaried look, and the perspective was very difficult to match without references. So here it is with just the spinosaurus which I think looks more realistic with him just on his own as if the person taking the picture is hidden in the bush capturing this awesome beast in secret. -Enjoy

Very nice. Love the realism achieved here. I think you are right leaving him there alone. He makes an excellent focal point. Well done!!!

looks great, but you may want to crop a bit of the left end or a bit off the bottom... there's a tent leg in the bottom left corner. totally amazing besides that

Beautiful, my friend, your dinosaur rocks! To make it rock some more I'd give him some color, but that's only my opinion. Bravo!

As always, you work wonders with compositing. I'm not sure that I've seen anyone else do what you do in pulling CG elements into scenes with such accuracy. Just my druthers, and maybe too nit-picky, but the backdrop is too contemporary, foliage wise. Also, the GI shadow makes him look small-- the sort of ambient occlusion effect falls off very quickly as an object moves away the thing its shadowing. The lighting on Spinasaurus is perfect, in no way distinguishable from what lights the rest of the scene. Things to experiment with: footprints! I've noticed that you do a lot of beach scenes. One of the most interesting and effective tricks for tying a character to a beach scene to which he's been composited is to synthesize footprints. . .not terribly hard to do, and very effective.
