3D Studio MAX, Onyx Tree Still and Photoshop. Original resolution is 4096*3073. Rendered in multiple passes. Combined rendertime was 120+ hours.
It's good to be back! Here is another revision of my earlier image. Damn soft shadows and volymetrics!

Very cool done! I love the volumeLight effect, its brilliant! The leaves on the tree, are they made from scratch or is it a plug-in for 3d studio? If it is a plug-in , please write witch one =) Ill give this one a clear 9 pointer!

I gave you this rateing not because the pic is awesome but because you actually let it render that long without pulling your hair out you must have a second machine because I would have stopped it and added a sphere with a fog texture with the transparency settings low and then I would have added a volumetric light and if it was going to take more than an 2 hours I would have bagged the scene
i agree with foleypro...fog with volumetric light would have looked even better...a great image all the same though.
