Description
An accomplished artist friend of mine told me that contrary to what art teachers will say, blackness/ darkness/ shadow is your friend. It's okay to use black, he said, it brings out contrast and refines/defines detail. He also referred to lights as "darkness suckers". I've taken his advice and started using the absolute minimum of lighting possible for a scene. I think I like the improvement it makes! Enjoy!

Great pic. Not sure I entirely agree with your friend about the lack of lighting on everything though. After all, the world is not black and white! LOL
