Description

This is an all Bryce model of the Sandy River And Rangley Lakes railroad's #24 2 foot gauge Baldwin 2-6-2 as it appeared in the 1920s. I believe I have 30 plus hours into it now. I am having a problem finding the right textures to make it look real. Everytime I try to texture it it looks like hell, and I loose alot of the detail. any suggestions would be great. I would hate to spend all that time only to have a grey scale model. Thanks

Just Bryce?! I think we have this weeks winner for insane modeller. Fantastic work. As for textures, I'm not the best person to comment on textures.

Bryce should come with good metal textures, also in the DTE you should be ale to combine up to three textures..screw with opacity and all that, and you can always "dirty" it up in Photoshop, the modelling here is wicked-good..

Unbelieveable! Who needs texture? It can stand on its own merit as it is!

Nice one! Hope to see it in scene soon. And don't wory about texturing. As for all black paint models there's only one rule: they do not exist - all they are is the reflections on the paint". So try to find a good reflectivenes of black. Then as YARDROBE said you can finish it up in PS.

I'd try applying one of the Pewter default metals, then adding a sandy bump channel. Tweak it a bit and go from there. Might work. Dunno until you try, might have to spot render a bit until it gets worked out.

The model itself looks excellent, especially since it's all booleans. Keep at it, you'll get there.
