Try using more of a block skeleton when you start your characters pose. Get a great flow with the skeleton going and then flesh it out some. It should give it more of a 3d look for you. Right now it is very static and looks more like your trying to duplicate the lines you see in other pictures, first realize why those lines are there and it will make your drawings look more realistic.
