Description

Modeled and rendered in LightWave, zero postwork (except for the presentation layout). Thanks to the inspirational animation work by petes, I've decided to go back to work on "Dystopia" and do a little playing with some pollution. I had lots of help from chemicalbrother, wgreenlee1, Fillingim and pnevai with the hypervoxels, wind and the lighting settings. With the help of the G2 plug-in from Worley Labs, I was able to reduce rendering time from over three-hours to just under 15 minutes. This scene has 261 objects with 1,070,268 polygons and 1,396 different surfaces. Please let me know what you think. Thank you very much for taking time to view, and for all your support.

I remember seeing the WIPs for this image way back, and was always astounded by it. However, I've never understood the name: there dosn't seem to be anything dystopic about this city -before I thought it was called "Dystopia" because the city was empty, but now that its been filled with residents I fail to see how the name connects to the image.

I hadn't yet seen the whole city all together like this. Beautiful, mysterious, unique, even inviting (yeah...I'm a city girl at heart). I really love the whole thing, you do fantastic work. :)

19Paul the definition I am using for Dystopia here is "An imaginary place or state in which the condition of life is extremely bad, as from deprivation, oppression, or terror." Literally speaking, the opposite of utopia. :o) As far as oppression is concerned... you have no idea how bad it smells there. :oP
