i recently made a cup of coffee (in max!) but this looks better. nice DOF and dirty detail on the cup. i like the doily surface as well. maybe change the volume fog effects on the steam. apart from that, well done.

According to the strong lighting and shadow and the shiny cup surface,there should be a better reflection of the white apron and according to the dark and dry coffee drops or marks in the cup,that tend to give the feeling that the coffee has been on the cup for a little while now,as a result it should not have that heavy steam effect. Some good modelling....

very realistic imho. Wonderful DOF effect, tablecloth texture. .. I almost burn my fingers grabbing for that cup of hot chocolate (in a cup that has been used a couple of days ;-)

Thanks for the comments guys. I've had a few people asking about the lace texture map...it is a simple tiled bitmap on a plane...the image is old and unfortunately I've lost the texture map. And yeah, that cup has hot coffee in it but it's on it's third fill up! (hence the coffee stains) :-P

Looks like my cup at work, nice work, but i agree that the reflection from the table should be a little bit stronger.
