Description
The Moon is the closest celestial Body we can observe. When the Galaxy was still young, there was intense Impact of Meteors, and the largest Crater was named nowadays “Copernicus".
Nicolaus Copernicus was a polish Theologian and Administrator in the 16th century, that was interested in the movement of the Planets.
Until Copernicus, the prevailing Doctrine was that the Earth was the center of the Universe and that the Sun and Planets revolved around it.
Through Observation and Measurement, Copernicus was able to prove that the Earth and all the Planets moved in elliptical Orbits around the Sun.
(And was lucky enought not to be burned by Inquisition!)
This Proof triggered an earth-shattering Explosion of Science and Philosophy and changed humanity's Awareness of its place in the Universe. It marked sharply the Transition from the Dark Ages to the modern Era and the Age of Reason. ("Copernican Turn")
Thus, Copernicus gave us both, the loss of Heaven, but also the Dawn of our Freedom from Superstition and erroneous Beliefs.
He himself is forgotten, except for that huge Crater on the Moon, that can be seen when the Moon is full ...
Have a good Day under the Reign of Sun and Moon! :)

All hail Selene. A truly beautiful astral body very nicely depicted in this excellent render. :-)
ps. I could never forget Copernicus. :-D
:D Glad to read You did not forget Copernicus! Thank You for Your friendly Words. All Credits go to the Moon! ;)
Ein sehr schöner Render
Vielen Dank!
Thank You! Not quite sure, what Kind of handling You refer to, but from my Experience: Science is made by Humans, so basically error-proned and tangled in Interests! If you are searching for ultimate Truth, you may have to look where you least expect it! :)
BEAUTY
Thank You, MU! Are these electronic Grids You created lately!? :)
Beautiful Moon that I can admire without needing to open the window this night when I can't sleep :) Thank You!
Glad to read it found Your Eye! So You have a Moon of Your own, now! :) But I hope You will sleep safe and sound and will not need to contemplate on the Moon! :)

Well ... I hope so! ;)
It is an 8K-Moon-Image by NASA. My part was the Lighting and to arange an Displacement, so it became 3D! (But dont tell that Secret to the others! ;)
This really caught my eye! Amazing work & we owe a lot to Copernicus!
Very happy reading that! Yes, we always stand on the Shoulders of others before us and reach out. And everybody is important and plays a Role of his own ...
The moon is so beautiful and important, as is the rest of our celestial bodies. As you said, the loss of heaven still meant the gain of something else amazing.
This looks fantastic, love how you made it 3D :)
Yes, the Moon is much underrated, we shoul pay more Attention to it! You make me think about a Series on the Moon, because it is so close, but we are not aware of its Secrets. Lets see .... ;)
We lost our Place in the Center of the Universe, but were given Freedom ... If we look at the World today, I am in Doubt, if this - forced - Choice was the right one!? ....
@chrysaor Dunno but all we can do is the best with what hand we are dealt
